Elliptic spring
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002020
A type of leaf spring consisting of two semi-elliptic springs connected at their ends, forming an elliptical or oval shape. This design was once widely used for vehicle suspension, where the axle was mounted in the middle of the lower spring and the chassis was attached to the middle of the upper one. The friction between the stacked leaves provides a damping effect in addition to the springing action.
