Fanout
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002174
The maximum number of digital logic gates that the output of a single gate can reliably drive while maintaining specified voltage levels and operating speeds. This characteristic is determined by the current sourcing and sinking capabilities of the driving gate and the input current requirements of the driven gates. Exceeding the fanout limit can lead to signal degradation and unreliable circuit operation.
