Fubarite

An informal, slang term in geology and mining for a rock sample that is unidentifiable or useless for analysis due to extreme alteration, brecciation, weathering, or mechanical damage. The name is a portmanteau of the military acronym FUBAR (Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition) and the mineral suffix '-ite'. It is applied humorously to drill core, cuttings, or hand samples that are so structurally complex or decomposed that their original composition and texture cannot be determined.
