A precision surface grinder, a machine tool used to produce a very flat and smooth finish on metallic or non-metallic materials. The machine works by securing the workpiece to a table that moves back and forth under a rotating abrasive wheel. The name comes from the characteristic high-pitched buzzing sound the grinding wheel makes as it removes material from the workpiece surface.
