Underburdened
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006324
A condition in blasting operations where the rock mass in front of a drill hole is insufficient to contain the explosive energy effectively. This leads to premature venting of gases and a reduction in fragmentation efficiency. Proper burden calculation, which is the distance from the drill hole to the free face, prevents this issue.
