Buzz
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000885
A high-frequency vibration in an aircraft's control surfaces, such as ailerons, elevators, or the rudder, that occurs at high subsonic or transonic speeds. This aeroelastic phenomenon is caused by the interaction of shock waves with the airflow over the surface, leading to oscillating pressures that can cause the surface to vibrate rapidly. Left uncorrected, buzz can lead to control difficulties or structural fatigue in the affected components.
