Acoustooptics
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000079
The branch of physics and engineering that studies the interaction between sound waves and light waves, particularly in transparent media. This interaction can lead to phenomena such as diffraction, modulation, and deflection of light by acoustic waves. Acoustooptic devices are used in applications like optical modulators, deflectors, and frequency shifters.
