Ground control point

A precisely surveyed point on the Earth's surface whose coordinates are accurately known in a specific coordinate system. These points are used to georeference and correct distortions in aerial photographs, satellite images, or other remotely sensed data. They provide a reliable reference for mapping and spatial analysis.
