Half-mast

A condition in knitting where a needle fails to rise to its full height, causing it to miss taking a new yarn loop correctly. This fault results in the old loop remaining on the needle without a new one being formed, creating a tuck stitch or a float. The defect is often caused by incorrect machine settings, worn parts, or issues with the needle butt or cam track.
