Half-bat
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002703
A brick cut across its width into a piece one half the length of a whole brick, keeping one original end and one cut end. Bricklayers use half-bats to complete courses, turn corners, and fill short gaps in a bond. Unlike a queen closer, which is split lengthwise to make a narrow brick, a half-bat keeps the full width and height of the original brick.
