Power brick

An external AC adapter that converts alternating current from a wall outlet into the low-voltage direct current required by an electronic device. It is a self-contained unit, housed in a plastic casing, connected by cables to the mains power and the device. These adapters are rated by their output voltage (in volts) and maximum current (in amperes) or power (in watts).
