Brick-wall limiter
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000771
An audio processing device or algorithm that prevents any signal peaks from exceeding a predefined maximum amplitude level, effectively creating an absolute ceiling. Unlike a compressor, it does not allow any signal to pass above the threshold, resulting in a very hard clipping effect if the signal is too strong. This is often used in mastering to prevent digital clipping.
