VAC
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006402
The standard unit of electrical potential in an alternating current system, abbreviated as Volts Alternating Current. In an AC circuit, the voltage and current periodically reverse direction, flowing back and forth in a sinusoidal waveform, which allows for efficient long-distance power transmission. Standard single-phase distribution voltages are nominally 120 VAC in North America and 230 VAC in Europe, measured with a multimeter set to the AC voltage function.
