Handling time

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002719

The time a vessel spends at its berth loading or discharging cargo, counted from the start of cargo operations to the final unit handled. Together with the time spent waiting for a berth it makes up the vessel's turnaround time in port. Container terminals measure crane productivity separately, in moves per hour, which is a rate and not a time.
