Handsomely
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002722
An adverb used in nautical commands directing an action to be performed in a careful, steady, and controlled manner, without undue speed. When hauling or easing a line, the instruction means to do so smoothly and deliberately, preventing sudden jerks or loss of control over the line or its attached load. This contrasts with a command like "let go," which implies a rapid release, or "check," which means to stop the line's movement.
