Heterojunction

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002822

A junction formed between two dissimilar semiconductor materials with different band gaps. This interface creates unique electronic properties not found in homojunctions, where the materials are the same. Heterojunctions are widely employed in high-performance electronic and optoelectronic devices, such as solar cells, laser diodes, and high-electron-mobility transistors.
