Heterojunction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005250

A boundary formed between two dissimilar semiconductor materials, which have different band gaps. This interface creates a discontinuity in the electronic band structure, leading to unique electrical and optical properties. Heterojunctions are fundamental components in many electronic and optoelectronic devices, including solar cells and light-emitting diodes.
