Landing strip

A cleared, flat area of ground, such as a field of grass or a length of packed dirt, designated for aircraft takeoffs and landings. Unlike a paved runway, a landing strip is a more rudimentary facility that may lack markings, lighting, and air traffic control services. These are found in remote areas, on farms for agricultural aircraft, or at small private airfields supporting general aviation activities.
