A type of rechargeable lithium-ion battery that uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) as its cathode material. This chemistry is known for its long cycle life, high current rating, and excellent thermal stability, which reduces the risk of thermal runaway compared to other lithium-ion types. While having a lower nominal voltage and energy density than Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) chemistries, LFP batteries do not use cobalt, resulting in lower cost and fewer ethical sourcing concerns.
