To fly an aircraft in a sustained, relatively slow pattern over a specific area, typically for observation, surveillance, or to await further instructions. This maneuver minimizes fuel consumption while maintaining presence in a designated airspace. Loiter time is a key performance parameter for many unmanned aerial vehicles.
