Martindale method

A standardized test procedure used to assess the abrasion resistance of textile fabrics. Fabric samples are rubbed against an abrasive material in a circular motion under a specified pressure. The test continues until two threads break or a noticeable change in appearance occurs, with the number of cycles recorded as the Martindale rating.
