Perch

A frame, often of frosted glass lit from behind and above, over which cloth is drawn so that an inspector can examine it for faults such as stains, broken threads, and weaving defects. The inspection itself is called perching and the inspector a percher. Separately, a perch is an old land measure of 5.5 yards.
