Warp beam
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006518
A large cylindrical roller located at the back of a loom, onto which hundreds or thousands of parallel warp yarns are wound under uniform tension. It rotates to release the warp threads as the fabric is woven and the finished cloth is taken up on the cloth beam at the front. The process of winding the yarn onto the beam, known as beaming or warping, prepares the threads for the weaving process.
