Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001100

A style of textile produced by a weaving process where the warp yarns are printed or dyed with a pattern before the fabric is woven. This technique, also known as warp printing, results in a final pattern with a characteristic hazy or feathered outline because the weft threads slightly shift the pre-printed warp yarns during weaving. The method is distinct from piece dyeing or yarn dyeing, where color is applied to the entire bolt of fabric or to individual spools of yarn, respectively.
