Flog

To separate grain or seeds from the stalk by beating the harvested crop with an implement such as a flail. This manual method of threshing was a primary means of processing cereals and other crops before the widespread adoption of machinery. Early mechanical threshers, which replicated this action, were sometimes referred to as flogging machines.
