PIT maneuver

A tactical pursuit intervention technique employed by law enforcement to force a fleeing vehicle to turn abruptly sideways, causing the driver to lose control and stop. This maneuver involves a pursuing vehicle making contact with the rear quarter panel of the target vehicle. It is a high-risk procedure that requires specialized training and is typically used only in situations where the danger of continued pursuit outweighs the risks of the maneuver itself.
