Pitch

A dark, viscous, and often sticky residue obtained from the distillation of coal tar, petroleum, or wood tar. It consists of a complex mixture of hydrocarbons and other organic compounds. Pitch is used as a binder in asphalt, roofing materials, and electrodes, and as a sealant.
