A hardware block that manages interrupt requests from peripheral devices and routes them to one or more processor cores. The Platform-Level Interrupt Controller (PLIC) prioritizes incoming interrupts, masks or disables specific sources, and signals the target core when a device needs attention. It is a standard component of the RISC-V instruction set architecture, which is used in embedded industrial control systems.
