Purl
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004587
A fundamental knitting stitch that forms a bump on the side of the fabric facing the crafter, created by pulling a new loop of yarn through an existing loop from front to back. It is the reverse of the knit stitch, which appears as a flat 'V'. Alternating rows of knit and purl stitches produces a garter stitch fabric, while alternating them within the same row creates ribbing.
