Quadrant

A mechanical component in a ship's steering system, typically a metal plate or arm attached to the rudder stock. It converts the linear or rotary motion of the steering gear into the rotational movement of the rudder. The quadrant's position directly corresponds to the rudder angle, which can range from 35 to 45 degrees to either side.
