Radiant heat

The transfer of thermal energy through electromagnetic waves, primarily in the infrared spectrum, without requiring a medium for transmission. This form of heat transfer is responsible for the warmth felt from the sun or a hot stove element. The intensity of radiant heat is proportional to the fourth power of the absolute temperature of the emitting surface.
