Runaway truck ramp

An emergency safety feature constructed on steep downhill grades of highways to provide a safe stopping area for large trucks that have lost braking capability. These ramps are typically long, upward-sloping beds of gravel or sand designed to absorb the truck's momentum. They are a last resort for drivers to prevent uncontrolled descent and potential accidents.
