Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004996
An uncontrolled overspeed condition in a diesel engine where the engine draws its fuel from an external source, such as oil mist from a faulty turbocharger or crankcase, rather than the fuel injection system. The engine accelerates uncontrollably until it either consumes all available fuel or self-destructs. This dangerous event can be stopped by blocking the air intake.
