A type of high-speed direct injection diesel engine that combines direct fuel injection with design features enabling operation at higher rotational speeds than traditional diesels. These engines use advanced turbocharging and common-rail fuel systems to deliver improved power output, torque, and fuel efficiency while reducing noise and emissions. HSDI technology made diesel engines more suitable for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles by offering performance comparable to gasoline engines.
