Self-right
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005151
The ability of a body to return to its upright position after being tilted or capsized, through a restoring moment produced by its own weight and shape. Self-righting lifeboats achieve it with ballast low in the hull and a watertight, buoyant upper structure that makes the inverted position unstable. Robots and tumbler toys use the same principle with a weighted base.
