An abbreviation for Synthetic Ester, a type of high-performance lubricant used in aviation gas turbine engines. These fluids are engineered to provide thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and lubricity at the extreme temperatures and pressures found within a jet engine. SES oils are classified by their performance capabilities, such as the military specification MIL-PRF-23699 for standard performance or SAE AS5780 for high performance capability.
