Sheepsfoot

A printer's hand tool with a claw at one end, used for prying up a form, that is, for lifting the locked type and chase from the imposing stone or press bed. It was sold with hand-press outfits alongside tools such as wrenches, brayers and bearers. The tool is historical and no longer used in modern printing.
