Sheep-split

A type of leather created by splitting the skin of a sheep into two or more layers. The top layer with the grain is called the skiver, while the lower, flesh-side layer is the split itself, sometimes called a flesh-split. This material is less durable than full-grain sheepskin and is used for linings, bookbinding, and inexpensive leather goods.
