Shuttle
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005251
A device used in weaving to carry the weft yarn horizontally through the shed, which is the opening created by the raised and lowered warp yarns. Traditional shuttles are boat-shaped and contain a bobbin of weft yarn that unwinds as the shuttle passes. Modern looms often use shuttleless mechanisms like rapier or air jets.
