Single-phasing

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005298

The condition in a three-phase electrical system where one of the three phases loses power or becomes disconnected. This imbalance causes the remaining two phases to carry increased current, leading to overheating and potential damage to three-phase motors and other equipment. Protection devices such as phase loss relays are installed to detect this condition and shut down affected machinery.
