Souped-up

Describing a standard engine or vehicle that has been modified to increase its power, performance, and speed beyond the original manufacturer's specifications. Modifications can include altering the fuel system, installing a turbocharger or supercharger, upgrading the exhaust, or reprogramming the engine control unit. The term originated in the early 20th century, possibly relating to adding supplements to horse feed.
