Spot color

A pre-mixed ink, rather than a combination of process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black), used to achieve a specific, consistent hue in printing. This method is employed when color accuracy is paramount or when a color falls outside the gamut of CMYK. Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors are a common example of spot colors.
