Spud

A threaded fitting or opening on a plumbing fixture, such as a toilet or urinal, that allows for the connection of a water supply line or flush valve. The spud provides a watertight seal between the fixture and the connected pipe or valve assembly. Spud wrenches are specialized tools with smooth jaws designed to tighten or loosen these fittings without marring their finished surfaces.
