Starter strip

A narrow band of roofing material installed along the eaves of a roof deck before the first course of shingles. It provides a sealed edge and proper alignment for the subsequent shingle layers, preventing water infiltration at the roof's lowest point. This strip is often self-adhesive or fastened with roofing nails.
