Sucker

A shoot or stem that arises from the roots or lower part of the main stem of a plant, often growing vigorously. These growths can divert energy from the main plant, reducing fruit production or overall plant health. Gardeners and farmers remove suckers through pruning to direct plant energy towards desired growth.
