Tingle
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006038
A small support fixed to the centre of an extended bricklayer's line so that the line does not droop between its end fixings. Over a long run the line sags under its own weight, which would put the courses out of level, so the tingle holds the line at the correct height. As a verb, to tingle a line means to secure its middle in this way.
