Traffic island

A raised or painted area in a roadway designed to separate opposing flows of traffic, guide vehicles, or provide a refuge for pedestrians. It improves safety by channelizing traffic into specific lanes and reducing conflict points at intersections. Traffic islands are constructed from materials such as concrete, asphalt, or landscaping, and are often marked with signs or lighting.
