Jaywalk

To cross a street at a location without a designated crosswalk or against a pedestrian traffic signal, in a manner that interferes with vehicular traffic. This action places the pedestrian in an unexpected position, creating a hazard for both the individual and for drivers. Most municipal traffic codes prohibit jaywalking and may impose a fine for the infraction.
