Trapunto

A quilting technique that creates a raised, padded design on fabric by stuffing areas from the back of the work. This method involves stitching the outline of a design through two layers of fabric, then inserting batting or cording into the stitched areas. It results in a sculptural, embossed effect on the fabric surface.
