Trellis

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007326

A graphical representation used in digital communication and coding theory to illustrate the possible states and transitions of a finite-state machine over time. It depicts the sequence of states and the paths taken through them, often used in Viterbi decoding for convolutional codes. Each node in the trellis represents a possible state at a given time instant.
